Male Fertility
A man is fertile EVERYDAY of his life starting from puberty.
This means he is able to get a woman pregnant.
In the conception of a child, the man contributes the sperm.
Male fertility ends at death.
Female Fertility
A girl's first menstruation signals that now she can get
pregnant, although she is not fertile all the time.
In the conception of a child, the woman contributes the egg.
An
egg is released at ovulation, which occurs once during each
menstrual cycle. A woman is fertile for a few days a month only
around the time of ovulation.
The cycle begins on the first day of menstruation until the day
before the next menstruation.
A woman's fertility ends at menopause.
Timing of Lovemaking and Fertility
The sperm and egg meet thru intercourse. Lovemaking can occur
anytime throughout the menstrual cycle.
A baby results from lovemaking only during the woman's fertile
days when she releases an egg. The sperm unites with the egg to
produce a baby.
At other times, lovemaking will not result in pregnancy.
